SOLO EXHIBITION ‘HOLD THE LINE’ at Michael Reid Murrundi 2026
Building on the bold visual lexicon of graphic patterns and geometric forms set forth by her previous solo shows Tow The Line I and II with Michael Reid, this stylish new series finds Jennifer moving further towards an irreverent, Memphis-indebted dynamism and playful Op Art zing. With a poppy, 80’s-inflected palette and an equally electric interplay of geometric shapes, Oh’s newest ceramic works invites a subtle tension between sharp and arresting angularity and the quieter textures inherent to the clay medium.

SOLO EXHIBITION ‘TOW THE LINE I and II‘ at Michael Reid Murrundi and Michael Reid Southern Highlands 2024
2024 marked Jennifer’s double debut solo exhibition with the esteemed Michael Reid Gallery in Australia. An amalgam of various influences, this exhibition makes reference to the initial nautical inspiration taken from the Dazzle ships which first appeared in WWI. The title Tow The Line references the maritime inspiration for the works coupled with a play on the phrase ‘toe the line’ questioning our ideas of conformity and compliance. Stripes as a motif, with their medieval connotations of deviance to their use in prison uniforms in the 1820s, have taken a journey towards more ambiguous realms that perhaps these days conjure up sartorial playfulness or seaside gaiety. Aside from the dazzle motif implemented like a through line, references to Riley and Buren are evident in the work. Meanwhile the forms make direct comparisons to architecture and geometry in which the torus is a repeated theme in the body of work. Many of the titles have been lifted directly from billboards and advertising in Sydney and Rome and are completely meaningless and absurd once taken out of context.
